what is FUTSAL

Futsal is an exciting, fast pace, small sided football game that originates from South America in the 1930’s. The nature of the game places a large emphasis on technical skill and ability in situations of high pressure and is subsequently an excellent complement for the 11-a-side format. Many of the top world class footballer’s played futsal in their youth and credit it with supporting their football development.

The sport is a great skills developer, demanding quick reflexes, fast thinking and pin point passing. It is an exciting game for children that is safe, simple and fun for them to play whilst improving technique, agility, decision making and their reaction to pressure. Children learn so much faster if they enjoy the game and spend a lot of time playing with the ball. German players with a more refined touch have played futsal initially, like Mesut Ozil, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mario Gotze, they all have a silky touch and explosive pace.

As a little boy in Argentina, I played Futsal on the streets and for my club. It was tremendous fun, and it really helped me become who I am today.

During my childhood in Portugal, all we played was Futsal. The small playing area helped me improve my close control, and whenever I played Futsal I felt free. If it wasn’t for Futsal, I wouldn’t be the player I am today.

Futsal helps a lot because you need to think quickly. Its a more dynamic game and today in Europe, there’s not much space so you need to think quicker and Futsal has helped me a lot with that. Futsal is one of my passions, I always love to play.
